Dr. Chi Xie obtained his Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering from Cornell University in 2008. He is currently a Professor in the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Visiting Professor of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of New South Wales. His research interests span various research topics in the general transportation and logistics field, including transportation network analysis and control, transportation infrastructure management, transportation emergency and risk management, travel demand analysis and forecasting, and intelligent transportation systems. His research has been sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education of China, and China Recruitment Program of Global Experts. Dr. Xie is a 2012 recipient of the Young 1000-Talent Plan (青年****) awarded by the China Recruitment Program of Global Experts.

讲座摘要：
This talk presents fundamental concepts and principles and widely acclaimed analytical methods for designing and managing modern transportation systems from a network perspective. Example problems and cases will be used throughout the talk to illustrate the underlying concepts and principles.
