李嵘于1998年本科毕业于内蒙古大学理工学院数学系，并于同年师从该系孙炯教授攻读微分算子的硕士研究生，2001年毕业之后工作于内蒙古大学理工学院自动化系，并连续两年获得优秀工作者。2005年考上北京大学力学系博士研究生，师从黄琳院士和段志生教授，方向为复杂系统研究。2006.06-2006.09到香港城市大学陈关荣教授处进行学术访问。博士论文题目为：网络节点动力学与网络同步行为的分析与控制，于2009年6月获博士学位。2009年9月开始任教于上海金融学院应用数学系，从事教学及科研工作。2014年开始主持上海市教育委员会科研创新项目，该项目研究正在进行中。
