1987-1992在联邦德国、柏林工业大学工程物理系、材料热力学专业任助教,同时攻读博士。
1992年获博士学位。
1992-1994在联邦德国、慕尼黑工业大学应用数学所,作博士后研究。
1994-1996在美国、内布拉斯加州立大学工程力学系,作博士后研究。
1996年回国,任四川大学金属材料系,教授、博士生导师;
2001初调入中国科学院上海硅酸盐研究所,2001年9月获德国洪堡基金会资助,赴柏林工业大学做洪堡访问学者;
2002年12月回国,调入复旦大学力学系。

研究领域:
主要从事智能材料(形状记忆合金、亚电铁电陶瓷等)研究,包括材料本构关系、相变特性及其在辐照环境和振动控制方面应用的理论建模与数值模拟研究,尤其是在相变热力学、滞后数学模型、辐射对相变影响及振动自适应控制等研究方向。

1) 智能材料相变特性及本构关系研究:通过相变热力学建立滞后数学模型研究智能材料(形状记忆合金、压电铁电陶瓷等)十分独特的力学特性,为其工程应用提供所需的应力-应变-温度-电场本构关系。

2) 结构振动自适应控制研究:用智能材料控制结构振动,通过理论建模结合实验与数值模拟方法进行振动自适应控制研究。

3) 辐照对材料力学和相变性能影响研究:高能量粒子(如中子、电子、质子等)辐照下材料力学和相变性能会发生较大的改变,通过实验和理论分析相结合的方法,研究辐照下材料内微观结构的变化对其宏观力学和相变性能的影响,建立多尺度理论模型。

4) 小尺度材料的力学和相变特性:微器件及纳米材料等小尺度材料具有十分独特的性能,用变分方法、分子动力学及统计力学等方法进行理论分析和模拟。
