研究领域包括高分子化工、材料化工、高分子化学、化学产品工程及流变学。主要研究方向是基于大分子组装的纳米材料和生物材料制备和应用，具体包括：（1）纳米球型聚合物刷的合成及应用；（2）生物相容性聚合物凝胶；（3）由环糊精包含作用、疏水缔合作用和静电相互作用驱使的大分子组装；（4）梳型高聚物对原油、油品、水煤浆等复杂流体流动性的调控；（5）有机-无机（金属）杂化高分子涂膜材料的制备与应用。
