1983年毕业于东北大学铸造专业，1992年7月在中国科学院金属研究所获得博士学位，并留所任助理研究院，1995年9月晋升为副研究员。1993年和1995年在韩国机械与材料研究院做博士后和高级访问学者；1997年至1999年在美国肯塔基大学做高级访问学者，1999年至2008年在加拿大纽曼铝业公司任总冶金工程师，2008年至2012年任冶金咨询顾问；2012年3月任沈阳航空航天大学材料科学与工程学院教授
