研究方向

(1)蓝藻多糖的生化特性、合成基因簇的鉴定、生理生态功能以及生物技术应用
蓝藻(又叫蓝细菌)产生大量的多糖,特别是胞外多糖,关于其生物学功能以及资源化利用的研究不多。相比于其它生物多糖,蓝藻多糖含有的单糖种类更多,分子结构也更为复杂,通过分析其絮凝活性、分散活性、乳化活性、凝胶特性和粘度特性等,从而研究其在蓝藻群体形成、底栖生长、浮游生长以及抵御外界不良环境等过程中的作用机制。蓝藻多糖分子结构复杂,因而可能会具有不同于其它生物多糖的物化特性和生物活性,从而可能会有新的潜在应用价值,如作为新的絮凝剂、乳化剂、分散剂和凝胶等在医药和食品等行业应用。对于蓝藻生物合成基因的研究目前处于空白,通过基因敲除的方法鉴定蓝藻多糖基因合成簇是研究多糖合成的遗传机制的基础。
(2)蓝藻水华暴发机制以及控制技术原理
蓝藻水华已经成为一个世界性的重大环境问题,已越来越严重地危害着饮用水供应、渔业生产和旅游等。我们发现水华暴发过程中蓝藻基因型组成不断地连续演替,是太湖蓝藻能适应环境条件不断变化导致水华长时间暴发和维持的重要机制,细菌在蓝藻水华暴发过程中也发挥了重要影响。水华蓝藻的最主要种类是微囊藻,微囊藻能形成水华的关键是其在自然界主要以群体形态存在,从而在抵御浮游动物摄食以及紫外线损害等方面具有竞争优势,而微囊藻形成群体的关键因素是胶鞘多糖的作用,我们试图通过分析胶鞘多糖的生化特性、多糖产生的生理和分子调控机制,研究胶鞘多糖在微囊藻群体形成过程中的作用机制。我们的研究也发现,群体大小不同的微囊藻基因型和毒素组成有差异,较大群体的产毒基因型比例较高,同时,较大群体含有的毒性高的毒素比例更高,因为群体大小不同的微囊藻在水体中的空间分布有差异,因此在进行水质安全监测的过程中必须特别警觉较大群体的微囊藻。
(3)微藻生物技术
微藻能光合自养生长,并且生长周期短,螺旋藻、盐藻和血球藻等微藻已经进行工业化生产,并在保健品、天然色素以及药物开发等方面成功应用。通过分离筛选出优良藻种,研究其在生物能源和生物活性物质等方面的生物技术应用。
(4)水生微生物多样性以及生物技术应用
分析水生微生物的遗传和生化多样性,研究其在净化水体方面的应用。
