Selected Works

Dr. Liwei Weng is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at School of Accounting and Finance, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He joined PolyU in 2020 upon the completion of his Ph.D. in Accounting at W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. He received his M.S. in Finance with distinction from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2013.
Dr. Weng’s research interests are in archival financial accounting. His primary research interest is disclosure, especially the intersection of corporate disclosure and institutional investors/analysts. For example, he examines whether mutual fund liquidity management affects corporate disclosure, why institutional dual-holders demand differently for public disclosure and private disclosure, whether having prior work experience as equity research analysts improves executives’ corporate disclosure, and how mutual funds’ time preference induces portfolio firms to adjust disclosure of short-term information. His teaching interests include financial accounting, data analytics, and managerial accounting.
