Dr. Sai Wang is a research assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. Before joining HKBU, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her Ph.D. in Media and Communication from City University of Hong Kong and M.A. in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin.
Her research focuses on how social interactions via various communication technologies and services influence user psychology and behavior. Specifically, her current research projects explore the following areas: (a) intergroup dynamics in the CMC context, (b) online incivility and the implications of digital technologies for promoting respectful online discussion, (c) bystander intervention in cyberbullying, and (d) misinformation correction.
Her work has been published in a number of leading peer-reviewed journals, such as New Media & Society, Digital Journalism, Mass Communication and Society, among others. She has won several top paper awards from major international conferences (e.g., International Communication Association) and regional symposiums in the communication field.
