Supervision
I warmly welcome research students who are interested in semantic change, conversation analysis, the stance-marking phenomenon, and contrastive analysis of English and Cantonese from the discourse-pragmatic perspective. Currently I am looking for students who are interested in analyzing:
Cantonese conversations in an institutional setting;
the grammatical strategies involved in stance-taking; and,
the grammaticalization of a particular group of words/structures/constructions.
