Introduction Betty is Founder and Design Director at COLLECTIVE.
She is Registered Architect in the Netherlands, RIBA Chartered Architect in the UK, and AIA Associate Member in the US. She holds an MArch degree from Harvard University and a BArch professional degree from Cornell University.
Before setting up COLLECTIVE, Betty was Design Director at OMA Rotterdam, working with Pritzker Prize Laureate Rem Koolhaas and leading the winning proposal for the Axel Springer Media Headquarters in Berlin, the 80,000-square-metre Hermitage Museum Art Repository in St. Petersburg, and the 42-hectare West Kowloon Cultural District Master Plan in Hong Kong, among many other projects.
At OMA, Betty also worked on the CCTV Headquarters interiors in Beijing, led the winning proposal for the 128,000-square-metre SSI Twin Towers in Jakarta and the 140-meter tall Baosteel Headquarters in Guangzhou, amongst many other architecture projects in Asia. Prior to this, she worked at OMA New York on the 214-meter tall mixed-use tower Museum Plaza in Louisville, Kentucky, and on the construction extension of Milstein Hall at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York.
Betty has also practiced at Herzog & de Meuron in Basel and Massimiliano Fuksas in Rome. Throughout her career, she has worked on architectural projects across Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and Africa.
Betty is currently Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and previously Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong.
