Biography
Zijie Qiu is currently a tenure-track assistant professor and Presidential Young Fellow of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), and concurrently a guest scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research (MPIP) in Germany. Prof. Qiu obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Fudan University in 2014 and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2018. During 2018-2020, he was working as a postdoctoral researcher at MPIP and was awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship. Since April 2020, he was promoted as the Scientific Project Leader in the Synthetic Chemistry Department in MPIP.
The main research achievements of Prof. Qiu in the past five years include: (1) development of a series of helical nanographenes by regioselective synthesis, and exploration of their reaction mechanism and chiroptical properties; (2) investigation of the influence of edge structure on the aromaticity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their optical gain properties; (3) visualization of physical properties, including mental fatigue and crack propagation, micro-environmental humidity, glass transition temperature, based on the stimulus-response of aggregation-induced emission luminogens. At present, Prof. Qiu has published more than 40 academic papers in J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., Chem. Sci., Prog. Polym. Sci. and other well-known academic journals with a total citation of more than 1,400. He also serves as the guest editor of Frontiers in Chemistry and has been granted several patents.
