摘要Postmodernist theorists of the 197http://aims.cuhk.edu.hk/converis/portal/Publication/0s and 198http://aims.cuhk.edu.hk/converis/portal/Publication/0s such as Fredric Jameson dismissed ethical interests in literature as false consciousness, appealing to Nietszche's historicism in The Genealogy of Morals. This reading of Nietzsche's autobiography Ecce Homo supports more recent research showing that his famous attack on morality was actually ethically driven. The implication of this argument is that there is reason to take another look at the relationship between ethics and literature.
