陈南芬教授的研究内容包括旧约圣经中女性的文本；另外，箴言书1—9章中的「外女」主题引导她进入到古近东的指导文学以及两约之间时期的智慧文本。其主要研究集中在与女性释经有关的被掳之后以及两约之际的旧约文学。近期的研究方向关注于尤迪传（the book of Judith ）: 一个后殖民女性主义的诠释。

教授的课程主要包括希伯来圣经、希伯来释经、希伯来圣经导论、妇女释经以及圣经神学。她在Society of Biblical Literature其中一个单元 专业问题担任委员， 也是International Cooperation Initiative项目的参与者。



Nancy Tan studies on texts related to women in the Old Testament. She has worked on the motif of the foreign woman in Proverbs 1-9 which took her into the Instruction literature of the ancient Near East as well as the wisdom texts in the Intertestamental period. Much of her work now concentrates on the post-exilic and Intertestamental literature of the Old Testament, in relation to feminist interpretations. Her recent project is on the book of Judith - a Postcolonial Feminist interpretation.



She teaches mainly on these subjects: Biblical Hebrew, Hebrew Exegesis, Introduction to the Hebrew Scriptures, Feminist Interpretation of the Bible, and Biblical Theology. She is also a committee member for the Unit “Professional Issues” at the Society of Biblical Literature, as well as a contributor to the International Cooperation Initiative to promote biblical studies.



Her published works include “The Chronicler’s ‘Obed-Edom’: A Foreigner and a Levite?” Journal for the Study of the Old Testament 37, no.2 (2007): 217-30; her monograph, The“Foreignness” of the Foreign Woman in Proverbs 1-9 (Beiheft zur Zeitschrift fur die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft, 381; Berlin / New York: Walter deGruyter, 2008); “Where is Foreign Wisdom to be Found in Septuagint Proverbs?” Catholic Biblical Quarterly 70 (2008): 685-94; and a recent article on “Judiths Embodiment as a Reversal of the Unfaithful Wife of YHWH in Ezekiel 16, ” Journal for the Study of the Pseudepigrapha 21, no.1 (2011): 21-35.
