Biography David Xu is an associate professor in the Department of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, healthcare, social media, technology adoption, and virtual reality. He has 43 publications, including 24 journal papers. His publications have appeared in all top four information systems journals (i.e.,MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Association for Information Systems) as well as the interdisciplinary UTD journals such asManagement Science and INFORMS Journal on Computing.Before joining City U in Oct 2017, he was the associate professor of MIS and Bomhoff Endowed Professor of Business at Wichita State University.
He earned his PhD from Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia in 2011. Within ten years, his citation count has increased to 1,900 on Google Scholar and his h-index is 16. He is supervising 8 PhD and 7 DBA students, and has six ongoing grants, including GRF, NSFC, and consultancy grants.In 2021, the Association for Information Systems (AIS)ranked him the joint 4th worldwide (first-author count ranking) among the most productive information systems scholars for publishing in the top-4 (or top-8) IS journals during the past ten years (2011-2020). He was the recipient of the AIS Early Career Award in 2018 and was named AIS Distinguished Member - Cum Laude in 2020.
He teaches courses in Python programming, data visualization, human-computer interaction & multimedia, website design, and research methods across programs of undergraduate, taught postgraduate, and PhD seminars. In 2021, he received the College of Business Teaching Excellence Award.
He is serving as an associate editor for Information Systems Research (ISR) and Information Systems Journal. In 2021, he was awarded the ISR Associate Editor of the Year Award 2020. He also received the Best Associate Editor Award in ICIS 2020.
Since 2018, he has been the major leader of Information Management (IFMG), a major with over 600 undergraduate students, and the most popular second major in the College of Business.
