- To educate students to excel in advanced mechanical engineering discipline as well as to extend the boundaries of their professional competence to meet the needs of future industrial development.
- To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership and creativity by engaging in interactive learning environments and management studies.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs):
- ACQUIRE essential concepts and knowledge of advanced mechanical engineering as well as across the boundaries of interdisciplinary disciplines;
- APPLY specialized knowledge to solve problems that are critical to future growth of industry and business;
- WORK effectively with people possessing diverse educational and experiential backgrounds in mechanical related disciplines;
- APPLY interdisciplinary teamwork to develop abilities to meet the increasingly competitive and dynamically changing world market.
Applicants must satisfy the University's General Entrance Requirements and the following programme entrance requirements:
- Hold a degree in engineering or equivalent;
- Applicants must have mechanical engineering or related engineering academic background.
Note: Final year undergraduate students who will acquire the requisite academic qualification before the commencement of the programme may apply for admission.
English Proficiency Requirement
Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:
- TOEFL score 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (internet-based test); or
- Overall band score 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
- Score 450 in the College English Test (CET-6); or
- Other equivalent qualifications.
Students may obtain the MSc degree either by completing (30 credit units):
- 5 core courses + 5 elective taught courses, or
- 5 core courses + the dissertation + 2 elective taught courses
15 credit units of Core Courses + 15 credit units of Elective Courses

@ If student takes both MBE6022 Project Development Study and MBE6008 Dissertation, the student may further pursue the case topic explored in the former course by substantially enhancing the study with new and advanced research work towards achieving the project objectives.

* Full-time students who want to complete dissertation in 1 Semester must get prior approval from Supervisor and Programme Leader with CGPA >=3.5.
- The programme utilizes a variety of learning modes and methods, including the followings:

- Seminars, Interactive Workshops and Panel Discussions offered by external; as well as by international experts, and active professionals working in the industry
- Students can bring their problems from work to class for team discussions and further analysis, and earn course credits upon obtaining satisfactory results.
* If student opts for taking dissertation to complete the programme study, the normal duration for graduation will be 1.5 years.
