PH.D. thesis "Study of 3D measurement technology by combining grey edge GRAY code and line shift stripe"

The main purpose of this research is to focus on improving the measuring accuracy and sampling density of coded structured light. In order to reduce principle errors and improve resolution, encoding and decoding method was developed, and then a grey-curve-intersecting algorithm was presented which can locate multiple edges and eliminate the influence of white-stripe diffusion. For verifying the feasibility of the algorithm, measurement system was designed and the calibration method based on orthogonal Gray code was presented and used for projector calibration. The experiments show that the method has good performance when applied to typical surfaces and complex surfaces.

Research report "Key Technologies of Three Dimension Scene Reconstruction by Coded Structured Light"

The major research area is about comprehensive reconstruction of porcelain in various shapes and colors(texture). Java3D is adopted for comprehensive reconstruction with pixel accuracy and generating interactive program embedded in webpage for assisting Internet sails. For avoiding the influences of surface partial features, light intensity analysis was applied to correct these influences. Finally, exemplar-based image restoration method and its adaptability to encoding image were analyzed, which can reconstruct sheltered parts of measured surface.

Current research work Apr. 2012 - present

My research work focuses on improving the measurement accuracy onto high reflectance surface of turbine blade with vision measurement system. Around this theme, measuring error analysis, system parameter design and uncertainty evaluation are investigated. For that, adaptive edge Gray code is introduced and stripe width is limited to keeping edge features. In addition, for improving registration accuracy, electromagnetic tracking registration method is introduced to vision inspection, and the interference to position data from metal object is analyzed.

In another field of medical application, we establish relationship between infrared dense 3D point cloud and radiation target on body chest and abdomen surface moving along breathing. We analyze movement patterns and mathematical description of respiration motion, that is used to control servo robot arm for radiotherapy.
