研究方向

1、计算智能与数据挖掘：主要研究进化计算、粗糙集、神经计算、SVM、深度学习、量子计算、稀疏表示和凸优化等方法，并应用于无线网络、图像处理、大数据和石油测井等领域。
2、无线通信与智能天线：主要研究MIMO、UWB、WSN、导航与定位等无线通信技术和无线网络建模与优化，以及智能天线中的智能化发射技术、接收技术和动态信道分配技术等。

业绩成果

长期从事电子与通信技术的研究以及电子仪器的研制，主持和承担省部级以上科研项目30余项（在研3项）；发表重要学术论文100余篇且被SCI/EI检索，获发明专利5项，主编教材3部。主要涉及计算智能、无线通信、图像处理、大数据挖掘和石油测井等领域。兼任计算智能与无线网络方向责任教授，河北省大数据计算重点实验室副主任，河北省电工学会理事。
荣获“河北省优秀硕士学位论文指导教师”（2010,2012,2014）、“河北工业大学优秀本科毕业论文指导教师”（历年）荣誉称号和爱尔兰颁发的“WIT-HEBUT 学术大使”嘉奖（2016）。培养的硕士、博士和博士后均就业于国内外著名企业或高校院所，指导大三进入课题研究的本科生毕业后均赴美、加、英、爱、澳等国名校留学深造。曾短期访问过UCBerkeley、Stanford、CalTech、Purdue、Duke、McGill、UToronto、USydney、UMelbourne、UTSydney和UCDublin等百余所高等院校，与国外数十所大学保持学术联系并联合培养博士生。此外，为进一步加强中外教育交流，每年招收来华国际学生攻读博士学位或做博士后研究。

Research Interests

1 Computational Intelligence and Data Mining: mainly focuses on Evolutionary Computing, Rough Set, Neural Computing, SVM, Deep Learning, Quantum Computing, Sparse Representation and Convex Optimization, and their Applications in Wireless Communications, Image Processing, Big Data, Oil Logging and so on.
2 Wireless Communications and Smart Antenna: mainly focuses on OFDM, MIMO, UWB, WSN, Navigation and Positioning, Wireless Network Modeling and Optimization, and intelligent transmitting, intelligent receiving and dynamic channel allocation in Smart Antenna.

Achievements

Professor Xia has been engaging in research on electronic and communication technology, and development of the electronic instrument. As PI or Co-PI, he has implemented more than 30 research projects at the national and provincial and ministerial level, and is undertaking 3 projects now. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers indexed by SCI or EI, obtained 5 invention patents and edited 3 textbooks. His research mainly covers computational intelligence, wireless communication, image processing, big data mining, oil logging and other fields. He serves as the responsibility professor of research direction at Computational Intelligence & Wireless Network (CIWN) in Hebut, the vice director of Key Laboratory of Big Data Computation of Hebei Province, and the director of Hebei Electrotechnical Society.
He has won the honorary title "Supervisor of Outstanding Master Thesis in Hebei Province" many times and "Instructor of Outstanding Undergraduate Graduation Thesis in Hebei University of Technology" every year, and has won the award “WIT-HEBUT Academic Ambassador” from Ireland in 2016. The graduated postgraduates under his supervision were employed in domestic and foreign famous enterprises or research institutes or universities, and all juniors participated in his research group after graduation went to prestigious universities in USA, Canada, England, Ireland and Australia for further study. He also visited more than 100 foreign universities in short-term, such as UCBerkeley, Stanford, CalTech, Purdue, Duke, McGill, UToronto, USydney, UMelbourne, UTSydney and UCDublin, and maintains benign academic exchanges and cooperation with dozens of foreign universities or joint training doctoral students. Moreover, to further strengthen Sino-Foreign educational exchange, he recruits the international students under his supervision in HEBUT to study for doctoral degree or work as the postdoctoral fellows every year.

Opening

PhD/Master positions in every year starting from September are available at Prof. Xia's research group for major in Electronic Science & Technology(PhD) or in Communication and Information System (Master), HEBUT, China, with full scholarship support during the academic period. Prof. Xia is looking for the highly motivated and diligent international PhD/Master students with Msc/Bsc degree in EE or CS or related fields (such as computational mathematics, applied physics and industrial engineering) to conduct research on the above topics and exciting projects in his research group.
In addition, a postdoctoral fellow position in every year starting from anytime is available for international scholars who must be a PhD degree’s holder under the age of 40.
