教育背景 刘方明，2005年于清华大学获学士学位，2011年于香港科技大学获博士学位（师从IEEE Fellow Bo Li教授）、并获香港电讯信息技术研究院（HKTIIT）杰出研究奖（Outstanding Research Achievement），现任华中科技大学计算机科学与技术学院副教授、博导、特聘研究员，并获得华中科技大学2013年度“学术新人奖”（是我院多年来第一次获得该奖项，在华中科技大学校报第469期“视点”栏目中的“学术新人的科研梦”中得到宣传报道：“驰骋在学术前沿”，采访报道详情请见如下校报网站：http://weekly.hustnews.com/index/#word_news_id=6387）。先后于2007、2010和2013年受邀作为香港中文大学、加拿大多伦多大学（合作导师：多伦多大学Baochun Li教授）、新加坡南洋理工大学，以及加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学的访问学者。2011年入选湖北省“楚天学者”计划、2012年入选微软亚洲研究院（Microsoft Research Asia）“铸星计划”、2013年作为子课题负责人承担国家重点基础研究发展计划“973青年科学家”项目（“软件定义的云数据中心网络基础理论与关键技术”）、是该项目团队的青年科学家之一。

研究方向在支撑大数据与云计算的数据中心、软件定义的网络（SDN）、移动互联网、绿色计算与通信、虚拟化与并行分布式系统等前沿领域开展理论研究与工程实践，近年来先后主持2项国家自然科学基金项目、1项教育部博士点专项科研基金项目，作为子课题负责人承担1项国家重点基础研究发展计划“973青年科学家”项目，并作为骨干参与国家自然科学基金重点项目。在包括A类SCI顶尖国际学术期刊《Proceedings of the IEEE》（影响因子：6.911，是IEEE创刊于1913年的机关会刊，在IEEE二百多种核心期刊中排名第1位、位于JCR第一分区，以月刊形式出版，每期仅收录3~10篇优秀论文；自1963年至今的50年间，中国大陆学者以大陆高校第一单位在该刊物上发表的论文数量仅有10余篇）、《IEEE Journal on Selected Areas inCommunications》（影响因子：4.232）、《IEEE Transactions on Parallel& Distributed Systems》、《IEEE Transactions on Computers》、《IEEENetwork》、《IEEE Wireless Communications》以及顶尖国际学术会议IEEE INFOCOM、ICDCS、ICNP、MASCOTS、ACM NOSSDAV、ACM e-Energy（由ACM SIGCOMM支持的面向绿色计算的信息与能源交叉学科新兴国际学术会议）上发表论文40余篇。

工作经历目前担任中国计算机学会（CCF）互联网专业委员会常委、担任计算机网络领域国际著名SCI学术期刊《IEEE Network》（影响因子：2.853）特邀编委、担任系统领域国际著名SCI学术期刊《IEEESystems Journal》特邀编委、入选SCIE 索引学术期刊《Frontiers ofComputer Science》首届青年副主编之一、担任CCF A类国际学术会议IEEE INFOCOM 2013-2015、ACM Multimedia 2014以及网络体系结构与通信领域盛会IEEE ICNP 2014、GLOBECOM 2012-2013等10余个大会程序委员会委员，以及国际学术会议IEEE LANMAN 2014大会宣传主席（PublicityChair）和国际绿色普适计算与云计算学术会议GPC 2014大会程序委员会主席（ProgramChair）；受邀到加拿大多伦多大学、加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学、意大利都灵理工大学、新加坡南洋理工大学、香港大学（于2013年受邀担任了香港大学计算机科学系博士生答辩委员会外审专家、答辩委员会委员）、香港城市大学、中国科学院计算所、上海交通大学、复旦大学、中山大学、中国计算机学会青年计算机科技论坛（YOCSEF）、微软亚洲研究院等国内外著名研究机构、大学和组织作学术报告。

科研项目与获奖近年来先后主持2项国家自然科学基金项目、1项教育部博士点专项科研基金项目，作为子课题负责人承担1项国家重点基础研究发展计划“973青年科学家”项目，并作为骨干参与国家自然科学基金重点项目。研究成果获IEEE全球通信大会GLOBECOM 2011最佳论文奖（由1070 篇论文中以1%竞选率评比选出）、云计算技术与科学国际学术会议IEEE CloudCom 2012最佳论文提名奖、以及泛在计算与通信国际学术会议IEEE IUCC 2012最佳论文奖，申请国家发明专利3项、获得国家软件著作版权1项。研究成果中所设计和实现的“无缝融合云端数据中心可靠性及对等网络可扩展性协同互补优势”的云存储系统资源调度技术，获得国内商业化云存储及网络硬盘系统之一FS2You（又名“飞速网Rayfile”）的大规模实际部署，吸引了超过300万互联网用户的广泛使用，其日益丰富的海量存储内容和高速内容共享性能使得日均在线用户高达十余万，FS2You在谷歌中国（Google.cn）的搜索项超过400万条。所设计和实现的“云—端协同式”高清视频存储与实时点播系统Novasky，首次提出了“动态协同”的云端服务器主动推送策略与“存播联动”的分布式用户端网络编码冗余存储策略，能够在保持合理编解码开销的前提下有效提高云端服务器和用户端存储与带宽资源的利用率，从而支持优于大部分现有商业系统的高码率视频服务（如1080p视频），吸引了近万互联网用户对上千部1~2Mbps码率高清视频内容的10万余次点播，其平均启动延迟和播放拖动延迟均保持在10秒之内。

此外，在教学方面，刘方明作为“计算机软件与理论”、“计算机系统结构”学科建设骨干之一、华中科技大学首届“物联网工程专业”课程建设骨干、启明学院和计算机学院特优生导师，承担了多门本科生必修课程、选修课程、毕设课题、启明学院特优生指导、课程改革、研究生培养工作等，教学任务获得学生们的一致好评；获湖北省“优秀学士学位论文”优秀指导教师荣誉称号、获大学生志愿者暑期社会实践活动“优秀指导教师”荣誉称号。负责华中科技大学计算机学院首届“物联网工程专业”本科必修《物联网技术导论》课程建设以及全校公选课建设项目《云计算概论与技术基础》，并代表我院于2011年6月参加了在北京大学举办的“高校物联网工程专业研讨会”，与北京大学软件与微电子学院、Google中国大学合作部，以及全国各高校代表讨论高校物联网工程专业建设与课程开设，以及物联网工程人才的培养方案；通过将所从事科研课题的相关成果作为授课素材，带领多名本科生发表信息领域顶尖A类（TOP 40）国际学术会议IEEE INFOCOM论文3篇，是我院首次有教师指导本科生在该A类国际学术会议上成功发表论文；作为博士生导师指导博士生2名、合作指导博士生3名（其中2人已顺利答辩毕业）；作为硕士生导师指导硕士研究生7名，其中6人次在本人指导下获得“国家研究生奖学金”、3人次获得“搜狐科研实践奖学金”、1人次获得Google Excellent Scholarship（谷歌优秀奖学金，全校仅5人获得）、1人次获得2014年华中科技大学优秀硕士毕业生；作为本科毕业设计课题指导教师，指导了多名本科生开展云计算与移动互联网方向的毕设课题，其中1人于2012年获“湖北省优秀学士学位论文奖”（本人获得“优秀指导教师”称号），5人在本人推荐下获得北美著名大学的研究生录取资格和全额奖学金（如北美排名前20位的加拿大多伦多大学，及美国南加州大学、美国加州大学洛杉矶分校UCLA等）；作为我校首支踏入中国物联网产业园的大学生社会实践队的指导教师（计算机学院赴无锡市“智慧中国”暑期社会实践队），带领物联网12级本科生实际观摩了中国物联网研究院、中国物联网产业园、清华大学信息科学与技术国家实验室物联网技术中心、国家物联网应用展示中心、无锡太湖科技园530企业孵化器等，通过紧密结合课堂教学与实践锻炼，获得了华中科技大学大学生志愿者暑期社会实践活动“优秀成果”和“优秀指导教师”荣誉称号。
