新西兰梅西大学生态学博士，毕业后曾在澳大利亚昆士兰大学和迪肯大学担任博士后以及副研究员，于2018年底加入南科大。研究兴趣包括动物生态学、保护生物学、湿地生态学以及环境管理，过去十年主要研究迁徙水鸟的生态与保护，从个体和种群尺度上系统研究候鸟在中国和澳大利亚的种群数量变化、分布和行为习性，发现由于栖息地的破坏和退化、非法捕猎等原因，导致东亚-澳大拉西亚的迁徙水鸟数量急剧下降。同时结合大尺度的跨国追踪以及地方性的跟踪和观察，对候鸟的栖息地利用和选择、觅食行为和食性进行了深入研究，在这些研究的基础上对目前我国的迁徙水鸟保护现状提出了长期栖息地监测、保护区边界调整和整合天然以及人工栖息地管理等的具体措施和建议，来改善候鸟的生存现状以及湿地的健康情况。这些工作不仅有助自然保护，也为改善和恢复人类赖以为生的湿地生态系统做出贡献。
