1981-1988年在暨南大学学习并获化学学士和硕士学位,1992-1995年在英国谢菲尔德大学(University of Sheffield)学习并获生物化学博士学位;曾任英国牛津大学(University of Oxford)访问学者(1992),美国佛蒙特大学(University of Vermont)博士后及研究助理教授(1996-2002)和香港大学助理教授(2002-2006); 2006年回国内后被国家人事部、科技部等七部委评为“新世纪百千万人才工程”国家级人选;2007年入选“****”特聘教授。现任暨南大学生命与健康工程研究院院长,教授,博士生导师;兼任暨南大学生命科学技术学院副院长及基因药物国家工程研究中心副主任。
近年来一直致力于生物化学和功能蛋白质组学领域的研究工作,在生物体中含铁蛋白介导的铁转运分子机制和人类疾病相关的蛋白质组学及抗肿瘤药物的作用机理等领域进行了深入系统的研究。相关科研成果获得美国国家癌症研究院(NCI)及美国NewsRX的专文评介。在国际期刊上发表SCI论文110余篇,平均影响因子>4, 被引用>1500次(截至2009年12月)。近年来主持及参与国家自然科学基金,美国NIH和香港政府RGC基金项目12项,经费共627万元港币,211万美元。以第一发明人身份获得美国发明专利2项,参编美国著作4部。
获得英国Daiwa Adrian Prize (The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, 1996) 及美国心脏学会奖Scientist Development Grant Award (American Heart Association, 2002)。是新加坡卫生部科研基金的常任评审人;Journal of Integrated OMICS的副编辑(Associated Editor)及20种国际化学和生物化学杂志的审稿人。 是美国ASBMB会员, 英国皇家化学会高级会员(Fellow, FRSC),香港蛋白质组学学会创会秘书长, 中国蛋白质组学专业委员会委员。
