1987年毕业于浙江大学地质系,1994年获法国巴黎第七大学博士学位。1994-1995年英国伦敦大学Royal Holloway学院地质系博士后。现任中国科学院广州地球化学研究所研究员,所长,同位素地球化学国家重点实验室主任。2017年当选中国科学院院士,2018年入选美国地质学会会士。(曾)任国际火山和地球内部化学协会(IAVCEI)大火成岩省委员会委员,国际地球化学学会奖励提名委员会委员,IUGG中国委员会副主席,IAVCEI中国委员会主席,中国矿物岩石地球化学学会副理事长、火山专业委员会主任,广东省科协副主席;Terra Nova,Frontier Earth Science副主编。主要从事地幔岩石学、地球化学和深部动力学研究。先后主持了国家973项目、基金委创新群体和国家杰出青年基金项目和中科院B类先导专项等。主要成果包括:(1) 系统总结了中国东部岩石圈减薄的地质学、岩石学和地球化学证据,限定了岩石圈减薄的时间和机制。(2) 提出了鉴别古老地幔柱的新方法,系统阐明了峨眉山大火成岩省的地幔柱成因,为地幔柱影响下固体地球不同圈层的系统行为研究提供了范例。(3)厘定出东亚大陆新生代板内玄武岩的源区普遍存在西太平洋俯冲板片组分,提出俯冲组分可能来源于受地幔过渡带熔体改造的深部碳酸盐化地幔,构建了大地幔楔系统中形成板内玄武岩的新机制,已发表论文300余篇,其中SCI论文200余篇,作为Guest Editors在Lithos和Episodes主编专集三部;SCI他引10500余次,H-index 57,入选美国信息科学研究所基本科学指数地学高引用率科学家目录和Elsevier高被引中国学者名录。曾获国家自然科学奖二等奖、广东省科学技术一等奖、李四光地质科学奖等。
