王元陶博士,计算机系统、物联网和移动计算研究领域的国际顶尖专家。1999-2006年,王元陶在美国普林斯顿大学计算机系(全美排名第六)任助理教授,在领域相关的国际顶级学术会议上(SOSP, ASPLOS, FAST, OSDI, SIGCOMM)发表过30多篇论文,被引用近4000次,其中Serverless File Systems(xFS)被认为是分布式存储系统研究领域的开创性工作,被引用1200余次。2005年他以联合创始人身份成立非营利组织Digital StudyHall,面向印度以及其他南亚国家,应用低成本计算机或计算技术解决发展中国家面临的普及教育问题,获得了ACM的尤金·劳勒奖(计算机信息科学方面的人类贡献奖)。2010-2015年,王元陶任Intel中国研究院首席科学家,领导近百人的软硬件研发团队,打造了可穿戴计算平台“爱迪生”。“爱迪生”是2014年国际消费电子展会(CES)上Intel的旗舰成果,受到业界和公众媒体的广泛关注,被评为2014年CES最佳产品之一,吸引了数千篇媒体报道文章。王元陶因此获得了“戈登·摩尔杰出成就奖”。
