长期从事水环境修复、河流污染控制与湖泊富营养化控制等方面的基础与应用基础研究,在流域生态恢复与修复领域,提出了将水量、水质、生态、景观与管理等五要素相结合,实施综合生态恢复与修复的技术战略与模式,在海南琼山新市区、广西桂林桃花江、河北白洋淀和衡水湖等的生态恢复实践中建立示范工程。近年来,进一步提出利用工业废弃物低成本控制沉积物磷释放、利用厌氧氨氧化菌加速天然水体脱氮过程、利用植物定植技术缓解湖泊蓝藻爆发等生态工程技术与方法。针对工业循环冷却水,研发了无机固体阻垢缓蚀杀菌新药剂,提高了冷却水浓缩倍数,开发了节水减排绿色适用技术。近年来,主持和参加国家863、科技支撑、面上基金、行业公益等项目20多项,获国家科技进步二等奖1项、省部级科技进步一等奖、二等奖和三等奖4项。在国内外重要学术期刊发表论文100多篇,其中,SCI论文50余篇,已获国家发明专利4项,出版专著或教材3部。
