翁建平博士，教授，现任中国科学技术大学生命科学与医学部副部长，中国科学技术大学临床医学院执行院长，中国科学技术大学附属第一医院副院长,蚌埠医学院院长。 在中华医学杂志、中华内科杂志、New Englang Journal of Medicine、Lancet、British Medical Journal、Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology、Hepatology、Circulation、Diabetes Care、Diabetes等国内外学术期刊发表论文450多篇，总引用频次超过10000次。 系教育部********，国家****基金获得者。中国医师协会内分泌代谢科医师分会副会长、中华医学会糖尿病学分会名誉主任委员、中国老年学和老年医学学会老年病学分会副会长、中国生物物理学会表型组学分会副会长、中国科学与技术协会糖尿病学首席科学传播专家、亚洲分子糖尿病研究会副主席、广东省糖尿病防治重点实验室主任、《中华糖尿病杂志》总编辑、《中国科学技术大学学报》执行副主编、Associate Editor of Chinese Medical Journal (Engl.)、Associate Editor of Journal of Diabetes、BMJ international advisory board、Co-Editor of Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews、Associate Editor of Journal of Diabetes Investigation等。 牵头发布2型糖尿病诊治中国标准（ Standards of care for type 2 diabetes in China）。第一个证明了2型糖尿病胰岛功能可逆,提出并验证了“2型糖尿病β细胞休整”学说，制定了“2型糖尿病胰岛素早期强化治疗方案”国际共识和国内共识，作为总负责人牵头制定《中国糖尿病防治指南》2013版。 承担教育部****和创新团队发展计划、国家卫健委公益性行业基金、国家自然基金委重点项目、973课题、863课题和卫生部部属医院临床学科重点项目等多个大型项目，以第一完成人获2011年度国家科技进步二等奖和2006年度教育部科技进步奖一等奖，并于2018年获中华医学会糖尿病学分会(CDS)最高学术奖项-科学贡献奖。 2003年开始招收临床医学博士研究生，已培养博士研究生46名。
