主要从事材料化学与生物医学方向的基础研究，利用生物化学、分子生物学和细胞生物学等技术手段，对生物大分子进行结构修饰及活性研究，主要针对人体组织损伤修复和慢性病的治疗。目前主要的研究方向：
1. 甲壳素及其衍生物的化学修饰及生物活性：羧甲基壳寡糖在治疗肾病综合征方面的应用及分子构效关系。
2. 多肽药物在改善组织纤维化方面的应用：包括肾纤维化、肝纤维化、肠纤维化（克罗恩病）的口服治疗。
