课程简介
第一门：美国艺术与建筑（AMERICAN ART AND ARCHITECTURE）
This course offers a comprehensive overview of the art created in the United States, beginning with a brief look at very early cultures (Anasazi), and then examining American architecture, sculpture, and painting in chronological sequence. Included are the unique Native American arts, Shaker architecture, the Hudson River School, H.H. Richardson, and the competition for the title of “tallest building in the world” waged by the skyscrapers of New York City. Innovative styles are considered, including Color Field Painting, Action Painting, Pop Art, Op Art, Psychedelic Art, and Postmodernism. Special attention is given to the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, the sculpture of Alexander Calder, and the painting of Georgia O’Keeffe.
第二门：美国艺术大师和他们的深远影响 （GREAT AMERICAN ARTISTS AND THEIR INFLUENCES）
This course offers an in-depth examination of the life and work of a variety of notable artists. Each week focus in on a different artist. Presented in a basically chronological sequence, these 19th and 20th century artists include painters, sculptors, and architects. Because of his profound influence on American art, also included is the Spaniard Pablo Picasso.

Dr. Janetta Benton
美国富布莱特计划招募教授，本科毕业于康奈尔大学，硕士毕业于乔治华盛顿大学，博士毕业于布朗大学，研究方向着重于中世纪与文艺复兴时期的艺术史，也曾在大都会博物馆向公众讲授公开课长达20余年。
富布莱特计划
富布莱特计划是世界上规模最大、声誉最高的国际交流计划。中美富布莱特计划是该计划的一部分，是中华人民共和国与美国之间以“本着平等、互惠和互利的原则促进教育领域的合作和交流”为目的的官方交流计划。在该计划的支持下，中美两国交换教育工作者、研究人员、专业人员和学生进行学习、研究和教学。
由中国美术学院图书馆馆长张坚教授申报的美国“富布莱特-泰拉基金会中国教学和研究资助项目”（Fulbright-Terra FoundationAwards for teaching and research in China），于2016年7月正式把中国美术学院列入全国三家项目接受单位之一（另外两家分别是北京大学和清华大学）。
