Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek Performance Faculty: Voice
Dr. Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek,mezzo-soprano, is a singer, conductor, educator, and composer. Dr. Horner-Kwiatek holds a D.M.A. from The Juilliard School and is on the Performance Faculty at Princeton University where she teaches voice, she is the Director of Early Music Princeton Singers and is Associate Director of the Vocal Consort Certification Program. She is also on the voice faculty at New York University and teaches music history and appreciation classes at The Juilliard School Evening Division. She is in demand as a clinician and gives masterclasses and ensemble technique workshops all over the U.S., including her Vocal Pedagogy for Composers seminars which have been presented at universities and conservatories all over the US, including Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, Duke University, Montclair University, and SUNY Binghamton
She was a member of the world-renowned vocal quartet Anonymous 4 from 2000-2015. She recorded twelve award-winning CDs with the group, includingAmerican Angelswhich twice topped Billboard’s classical music charts, andThe Cherry Tree, one of the top selling classical CDs of 2010. Anonymous 4′s performance of the Irish lament “Caoineadh” on Christopher Tin’s albumCalling All Dawns, with Jacqueline as featured soloist, led to two Grammys for Best Classical Music Crossover Album.
She is currently Artistic Director ofModernMedieval, an organization that offers workshops, clinics, and masterclasses for singers and composers. This includesModernMedievalVoices, a women’s ensemble dedicated to creating programs that combine early music with new commissions.MMVhas given performances and residencies throughout the U.S., including NYC Ecstatic Music Festival, Notre Dame University, The National Museum for Women in the Arts, and Princeton Sound Kitchen.
Dr. Horner-Kwiatek has been a guest soloist with many renowned ensembles and opera companies, including English National Opera, Washington Bach Consort, Royal Opera Covent Garden, The Folger Consort, Distinguished Concerts International New York, Ensemble Modern Frankfurt and Ensemble InterContemporain Paris, performing at many of the world’s leading venues, including Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Disney Concert Hall in the U.S.
As a composer, Dr. Horner-Kwiatek has had her music performed by Locrian Chamber Ensemble, The Folger Consort, ModernMedieval Voices, Early Music Princeton, and Constellation Men’s Ensemble, amongst others.

Member of Anonymous 4 1996-2015. Toured both nationally and internationally and recorded 14 award-winning CDs, including American Angels which twice topped Billboard’s classical music charts, and The Cherry Tree, one of the top selling classical CDs of 2010.
Founder and director of ModernMedieval, a vocal trio specializing in early and new music. Dr. Horner-Kwiatek is joined by Eliza Bagg and Martha Cluver, members of Roomful of Teeth. Performances and residencies throughout the U.S., including NYC Ecstatic Music Festival and Princeton Sound Kitchen.
Soloist with early music ensembles both in Europe and the U.S., including The Washington Bach Consort DC, The Sixteen, The Bach Sinfonia, Carmel Bach Festival, St. Thomas Church NYC, Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity Lutheran NYC, Baltimore Consort, Bach Festival of Philadelphia, Armonia Nova, The Folger Consort, Parthenia, Sonnambula, and Abendmusik.
Soloist with new music ensembles both in Europe and the U.S., including Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Ensemble Intercontemporain Paris, Continuum, Washington Square Contemporary Music Society, Ixion, Ekmeles, and Locrian Chamber Ensemble.
World premieres include Bacchant inThe Bacchae (John Buller) for English National Opera London, Monk in Gawain (Sir Harrison Birtwistle) for The Royal Opera Covent Garden, Overseer in Sweat by Juliet Palmer at National Sawdust for Centre for Contemporary Opera, Alcina in Jonathan Dawe’s Cracked Orlando for Juilliard’s Centre for Innovation in the Arts, and Gertrude Stein in Daniel Thomas Davis’s Six.Twenty.Outrageous for AOP at Symphony Space.
Also premiered the mezzo solos in Richard Einhorn’s oratorio The Origin, based on the life of Charles Darwin at SUNYOswego, and in Irish composer Philip Hammond’s Requiem for the Titanic, a performance that was broadcast live from St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, throughout the whole of Ireland.
