Matthew Melore Performance Faculty: Classical Trombone
Trombonist Matt Melore, a native of New York City, has performed with a multitude of ensembles across the United States and in the U.K. An active freelance musician, Matt has performed as a member of the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra for the “Christmas Spectacular” show for the past ten years. Broadway subbing credits include: “Newsies”, “On the 20th Century”?, “It Shoulda Been You”?, “Groundhog Day”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Rocktopia”, “Anastasia”, “Mean Girls”, “King Kong”, “Beetlejuice” and “Mr. Saturday Night”. Other ensembles he has performed with in the NYC area include the Princeton Symphony, Reading Symphony, Riverside Symphony, Symphony in C, NY Opera Society, League of Composers Orchestra, Princeton Festival Orchestra, Bronx Opera, Brooklyn Symphony, NJ Philharmonic, The Orchestra Now, Spectrum Symphony, One World Symphony, New York Repertory Orchestra, Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, Camerata Notturna, Chappaqua Orchestra, and The DCINY Orchestra, among others, with performances at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, St. John The Divine Cathedral, Barclays Center, Trinity Church Wall Street and many others. Matt is also a frequent performer on alto trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba.
Previously, Matt has taught at the Usdan Performing Arts Camp and Frank Sinatra High School in NYC.
An active chamber musician, Matt has performed as a member of the Guidonian Hand Trombone Quartet, with previous performances at the “Bang On A Can” Festival and as guest artists at the Eastern Trombone Workshop. He was also a Finalist for the 2008 ITA Trombone Quartet Competition. Matt also performs with the Tilt Brass Ensemble and has performed with the Wet Ink Ensemble and Deviant Septet.
As a soloist, Matt was the winner of the Sidney Langston Brass Soloist Competition in London, U.K. in 2009 as well as a performer on NPR’s “From the Top”.
Matt received a B.M. from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with David Finlayson and attended the Aspen Music Festival, studying with Per Brevig. He earned his M.A. in London at The Royal Academy of Music, studying with Dudley Bright, Ian Bousfield, Mark Templeton, and Dennis Wick.
