Wentz, Jr. Junior Faculty Award (2007)Professor Haataja's research focuses on theoretical and computational materials science, physics of materials, and physical biology. Current work includes studies of microstructure formation during solid-solid phase transformations and solidification, growth of electrodeposited thin films and quantum heterostructures, dynamics of driven interfaces in the presence of mobile impurities, recrystallization kinetics, signaling in cells, and regulation & self-organization of "lipid rafts" in the plasma membrane
