Dr. Ethan Gorenstein is the Clinical Director of the Behavioral Medicine Program in Columbia University's Department of Psychiatry and Associate Clinical Professor of Behavioral Medicine (in Psychiatry). He specializes in cognitive-behavior therapy for the treatment of psychological problems in both children and adults, including generalized anxiety, phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, adjustment and relationship difficulties, eating disorders, anger problems, habit disorders (such as trichotillomania), and depression. He is the author of The Science of Mental Illness (Academic Press, 1992) and (with Ronald Comer) of Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology (Worth, 2014). His research is on cognitive-behavior therapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, and anger.
