Dr. Kelly Workman is a licensed clinical psychologist at Columbia Doctors and serves on the faculty as a Clinical Instructor in Medical Psychology in Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC). Dr. Workman is also a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician? and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with specializations in clinical and applied behavior analysis.Dr. Workman provides compassionate and science-driven treatments to adolescents, adults, and families. She treats a range of internalizing and externalizing difficulties, including Borderline Personality Disorder, suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and addiction. Additionally, Dr. Workman has expertise in providing behavior management training to parents and caregivers as well as consulting with residential treatment centers, group homes, and elementary, middle, and high schools.
Dr. Workman has advanced expertise in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), including the Dialectical Behavior Therapy – Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) protocol and Dialectical Behavior Therapy – Accepting the Challenges of Exiting the System (DBT-ACES). She also specializes in a variety of other evidence-based treatments including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP, a treatment for chronic depression), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Exposure and Response Prevention (EPR), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
Dr. Workman received her doctoral degree from the University of La Verne, where her research focused on the role of parental distress, psychological flexibility, and treatment adherence to child behavior intervention programs. She completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Workman currently researches treatment outcomes in high risk populations and provides trainings and consultation to professionals.
