Research

Dr. Zachariah's overall research focus is the effective use of clinical informatics and analytics to achieve two complementary patient safety goals: i) prevention of antimicrobial resistance through appropriate antimicrobial use ii) surveillance and prevention of multidrug resistant infections. His previous work has included infectious disease surveillance using electronic data, use of the electronic health record for decision support, use of microbiology testing to guide antibiotic prescribing, and evaluation of healthcare interventions. He has served as a co-investigator on multiple federally funded grants. Dr. Zachariah is passionate about encouraging appropriate antibiotic use and preventing healthcare associated infections in children.
