Dr. Brett Youngerman treats patients with a variety of brain conditions, including movement disorders (Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, hemifacial spasm), epilepsy, brain tumors (glioma, meningioma, pituitary tumors, skull base tumors), hydrocephalus, chronic pain (trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformation), and treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He is experienced in minimally invasive techniques that aim to protect or improve brain function, including deep brain stimulation, responsive neurostimulation, laser ablation, robotic neurosurgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, endoscopic neurosurgery, awake and asleep brain mapping, and computer-guided microsurgery.

Selected Publications
Dr. Youngerman’s research aims to improve surgical outcomes and quality of life for patients. He is a?translational neuroscientist, working to?advance new neuromodulation technologies for epilepsy, movement disorders, and other treatment refractory conditions.?He also uses clinical informatics to promote patient safety and quality improvement. He received a Masters of Science in Patient-Oriented Research from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, is actively involved in New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Department of Quality and Patient Safety, and is Vice-Chair of Neurosurgery’s National Quality Council. He is a KL2 Scholar, has published dozens of articles in leading, peer-reviewed journals, and presented at prominent national meetings.?
