Dinitia Smith is the award-winning author of five novels, most recently, The Prince, a contemporary retelling of Henry James’ novel The Golden Bowl, which was published in April.? Her novel, The Illusionist, about a young transgendered man, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.? Her short stories have been published in numerous journals. For eleven years, she was also a reporter for the New York Times where she wrote about the literary world and intellectual trends. She is also an Emmy Award winning film maker, and her drama, Passing Quietly Through, was chosen for the New York Film Festival, and has been shown at the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.
