Lee Siegel is the author of seven books: Falling Upwards: Essays in the Defense of the Imagination; Not Remotely Controlled: Notes on Television; Against the Machine: How the Web is Reshaping Culture and Commerce, and Why it Matters; Are You Serious: How to Be True and Get Real in the Age of Silly; Groucho Marx: The Comedy of Existence; The Draw: A Memoir; Why Argument Matters. Siegel has published over 800 essays, articles and reviews, which have appeared in The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Newsweek, Time, New York, The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, and The Wall Street Journal, among many other publications. He has been senior editor of and television critic for the New Republic, book critic for the Nation, art critic for Slate, staff writer at Harper's and the LA Times Book Review, weekly columnist at the New York Observer, and senior columnist at the Daily Beast. He is a recipient of the National Magazine Award for Reviews and Criticism. Siegel has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, C-SPAN, BBC, CBC, and Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show," on various NPR programs and on radio shows here and in Britain.
