Scott Whitehurst is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Theatre at School of the Arts, where he teaches Shakespeare. Prior to The School of the Arts, Mr Whitehurst was co-head of MFA Acting at The New School’s College of Performing Arts. Additionally, he has taught at: Essex County College, Ramapo College, NY Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, and Circle in the Square Theatre School. As a private teacher, Mr Whitehurst runs The WhiteRobin Group with his wife, actor-singer Angela Robinson. Their clients work on and off-Broadway, in Regional Theatre, and in Film and Television.
As an actor, Mr Whitehurst has extensive experience in Shakespeare and Classical Theatre. Regionally, he has appeared at: Arena Stage; Arkansas Repertory Theatre; Baltimore Center Stage; Bristol Riverside Theatre; Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park; Contemporary American Theatre Festival; Crossroads Theatre; Ford’s Theatre; Geffen Playhouse; Geva Theatre Center; Indiana Repertory Theatre; Pioneer Theatre Company; Pittsburgh Public Theatre; Porthouse Theatre; Repertory Theatre of St Louis; Shakespeare Theatre Company (DC); The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey; Stamford Center for the Arts; and Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Off-Broadway, Mr Whitehurst has worked at: Blue Light Theatre Company in Waiting for Lefty directed by Joanne Woodward; Judith Anderson Theatre in Incommunicado; Manhattan Theatre Club in Black Eagles; The Pearl Theatre Company in 10 productions; Walkerspace in Into the Hazard [Henry 5]; and Minetta Lane Theatre in Jeffrey. His Television credits include: Evil, House of Cards, Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Elementary, Six Degrees, Law & Order, Law & Order: CI, and Simple Justice.
Mr Whitehurst is an alumnus of Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University (MFA), where he studied acting with William Esper and Maggie Flanigan; and Columbia College, Columbia University (BA). He is a proud member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA, and the National Alliance of Acting Teachers.
