Biography

B.A., Columbia College (1988); Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley (1998); M.L.I.S., Simmons (2006). Mark Phillipson works with the poetry of British romanticism, with an emphasis on publication technology and evolving methods of dissemination. He has published articles in Studies in?Romanticism,Nineteenth-Century Literature, and?Romantic Circles; his collaborative?Romantic Audience Project?at Bowdoin College was profiled by?EDUCAUSE,?The Chronicle of Higher Education,?The Washington Post, and others. He has written about the interplay of pedagogy and digital technologies in?Wiki Writing: Collaborative Learning in the College Classroom?(University of Michigan Press, 2008) and?Digitization in the Real World?(Metropolitan NY Library Council, 2010). From 2006-2012 he worked in the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, leading the Digital Bridges strategic initiative and projects such as the multimedia analysis platform Mediathread. He was Director of the GSAS Teaching Center from 2013-2015, and is currently Director, Graduate Student Programs and Services, Center for Teaching and Learning.
