Early Modern Korean History; Legal History; Women, Gender, Family, and Women’s Writing in Korea
Jungwon Kim is the King Sejong Assistant Professor of Korean Studies. She specializes in gender, family, and legal history of Chos?n Korea (1392-1910). Her broad research interests include women’s writings, ritual and expression of emotions, and the use of legal archives. She received her Ph.D. from Harvard University, taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and was a member of the School ofHistorical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ (2012-13) before joining the department in 2013.
