Nick Gershberg is administrator of the Arthur Ross Greenhouse at Barnard College. He is responsible for the curation and maintenance of the Greenhouse’s extensive conservatory of tropical, arid and Mediterranean plant species, and assists Plant Science researchers in experimental design and implementation. He specializes in container horticulture, and is trained in plant propagation, greenhouse management, and bonsai technique. He is also an instructor for the New York Botanical Garden’s Department of Adult Education, where he teaches a course in Greenhouse Practices, as well as various workshops and weekend classes. A native New Yorker, Nick’s interests focus on how controlled and specialized growing environments can enhance local biodiversity, scientific inquiry, and quality of life in an urban environment.
