Research Description
The Ruhi lab studies how aquatic biodiversity is responding to global change--focusing on the effects of?hydrologic alteration and drought. They are particularly interested in?the interactive effects of local drought stress and?landscape-level habitat fragmentation. They study this question via a combination of monitoring, field experiments, and modeling?of long-term?hydrological and?ecological data.?Funded projects focus on advancing our understanding of the ecological consequences of?flow intermittency, the potential of wetland ecosystem restoration (i.e., breaching) to recover food-web structure, and the impacts that dams have on flow regimes and native biodiversity in?dendritic river networks.
