Research Description
Kim Shelton directs three excavation programs in Greece: Petsas House at the prehistoric site of Mycenae, the classical sanctuary of Zeus in Nemea, and the Late Bronze Age cemetery of Aidonia. As a specialist in ceramics, she works with material culture and involves many students in her research, here and abroad. Currently, she works on Mycenaean ceramic production and the prehistoric palatial economy, the changing mortuary landscape, and the earliest manifestations of Greek religious ritual through permanent architectural establishments and recognized paraphernalia - such as figurines.
