Research Description
Christopher Kutz is a professor in Berkeley Law.? He works in moral, legal, and political philosophy, with a special focus on problems in criminal law, international law, and the theory of democracy.? His most recent book,?On War and Democracy?considers the special moral constraints liberal democracies should respect when engaging in organized violence, internally or internationally.? His current book project, provisionally titled?The Improvisational Public,?looks at the variety of ways democracies have organized their central functions, from education to public safety to speech, and presses for ways that treat citizens as active participants rather than passive recipients of services.
