BIOGRAPHY
Jane Lin is an architect, urban designer, and founding partner at Urban Field Studio. She works with public agencies to provide urban design, development strategy, and community engagement for transit area planning and revitalizing mixed-use districts. Her work guides the growth of suburban and urban communities through master planning and urban design advocacy. The projects are often centered around infill and revitalization of neighborhoods, vision setting for districts, and advocacy for a higher quality built environment. Her work includes Station Area Plans, Downtown Specific Plans, streetscape and corridor plans, campus plans, and the establishment of design guidelines. Jane is also a housing policy advocate and works closely with East Bay cities on objective design standards for multi-family and mixed-use housing.
Jane graduated with a BA in Architecture, MS in Architecture, and?Masters?in City Planning from UC Berkeley. Her MS in Architecture was in Building Sciences and her concentration in City Planning was Land Use. Jane won the Eisner Prize for City Planning.
Jane is involved with the ULI Urban Plan program and is part of the Public Private Partnership Council. Jane has taught architecture to a wide range of people, including school aged students (K-12) in classrooms at more than a dozen Bay Area public schools. She is passionate about the empowerment of large groups of non-designers and community-driven design and planning.
