Biography

Aram Thomasian is Professor Emeritus of Statistics and Electrical Engineering. He has been involved in the statistical analysis and modeling of the random potential surfaces obtained from multiple electrode EEG recording from the human scalp. He received his doctorate in Statistics from UC Berkeley with David Blackwell serving as advisor for his dissertation "On the Magnitude of the Sum of Error Probabilities. " He, Blackwell, and Leo Breiman made several key contributions to information theory during that time. He is the author of "The Structure of Probability Theory with Applications" (1969), one of the first books for electrical engineers that separated probability from statistics
