Abstract:
Prof. Zhai has worked on marine carbon cycling study for 18 years. His research areas include air-sea exchange fluxes of carbon dioxide and other green-house gases, biogeochemical coupling between carbon dioxide and dissolved oxygen, and nutrient dynamics in aquatic environments. Most recently, his research focuses on the responses of coastal ocean carbon cycle and ecosystem to a changing terrestrial export of carbon and nutrients as well as hypoxia and coastal acidification in China seas and Chinese estuaries.
