研究题目：反应扩散系统与平均曲率流方程的周期，概周期行波解

代表性工作介绍：

反应扩散方程的奇异极限可以导出各种各样的界面运动方程.平均曲率流方程是其中倍受关注的一种,无论是在数学理论(比如几何)上还是各应用领域中都是很有意义的问题.

在带有锯齿形边界的帯状领域中,我们考察满足曲率流方程V=κ＋A的曲线的运动（其中V是曲线沿法线方向的速度,κ是曲线的曲率,A是一个正数）.当带状领域的边界是简单的直线时,容易知道以一定速度A行进的行波是存在的,其profile(轮廓)为直线段.但是(i)当帯状领域的边界是由周期函数给出的锯齿形状时,从前的简单的行波不再存在,取而代之我们考虑以一定的平均速度向一个方向行进,其profile呈周期性变化的行波(所谓的「周期行波」)的存在性等问题.同样地(ii)当帯状领域的边界是由准周期函数(quasi-periodic)给出的锯齿形状时,我们预测上述方程应存在一种「准周期行波」(行波的profile呈准周期性).

研究这种(准)周期行波的存在性不是一个平凡的问题.对于准周期的情况,甚至连「准周期行波」的严格定义也是一个困难的问题.最近,H.Matano教授在研究反应扩散方程时首次给出了「准周期行波」的严格定义.与H.Matano和K.I.Nakamura两教授合作,最近我们对于带有锯齿形边界的帯状领域中的曲率流方程给出了「准周期行波」及其平均速度的严格定义,并且给出了存在性的证明,讨论了唯一性和稳定性等问题.

以此为基础,接下来要考察这个(准)周期行波的平均速度及其profile怎样依赖于边界形状的问题.这个问题无论是在理论上还是在物理学等方面的应用上都很重要,迄今为止在数学几乎没有什么结果.在均质化极限(homogenizationlimit)过程中,我们通过构造上下解的办法成功得到了(准)周期行波的平均速度的估计式,给出了profile的极限和平均速度的极限的计算公式.我们的结果表明,行波的平均速度小于A,其极限仅仅依赖于边界的最大斜率,而跟边界的其他具体形状无关.粗略地将,依据我们给出的公式,可以非常简单地通过改变边界的最大斜率来控制管状领域中流的速度.
