国际导演大师班（文明古国）将于2018年5月14日——6月19日隆重开班，该班由国际剧协与上海戏剧学院联合主办，上海戏剧学院导演系承办，聘请来自以色列、土耳其、印度、埃及和伊朗这五个具有辉煌古代文明传承的国家的五位顶级国际导演大师亲自授课，并进行导演工作坊，他们分别负责五周的教学工作，每周直接授课或工作坊为五天，第5天晚上学生准备展示汇报，第6、7天为总结。本次大师班还将在全部工作坊结束后，举办“2018国际导演艺术和导演人才培养论坛“，届时将会邀请来自英国、美国、法国、德国、俄罗斯、伊朗和国内多位著名戏剧导演和导演教育专家，就当代戏剧导演艺术的发展和新型导演人才的培养等话题展开多元的探讨。
上海戏剧学院在中国文化部、教育部和上海市委宣传部、上海市教委及国际剧协的支持和协助下，自2009年起，已经连续九年成功举办了九届国际导演大师班，分别是“2009国际导演大师班（美国）”、 “2010国际导演大师班（英国）”、“2011年国际导演大师班（俄罗斯）”、“2012年国际导演大师班（法国）”和“2013年国际导演大师班（德国）”、“2014年国际导演大师班（大洋洲）”、“2015年国际导演大师班（北欧5国）”、“2016年国际导演大师班（南欧5国）”和“2017国际导演大师班（美洲）”，邀请了美国、英国、俄罗斯、法国、德国、大洋洲及南、北欧和美洲的当代著名戏剧导演艺术家和教育家来到上海，与我们来自全国各地的重点院团的导演和演员们一起交流和切磋导演技法，使中西方导演艺术碰撞出新的火花和灵感。每次大师班之后，我们都将授课内容整理成文字并配有课程光碟出版发行，详细记录了大师班的授课情况，总结了各位大师的技法精髓，为我国戏剧文化届增添了一笔宝贵的财富。迄今为止我们已经出版了《国际导演大师班》丛书的《2009美国卷》、《2010英国卷》、《2011俄罗斯卷》、《2012法国卷》，《2013德国卷》、《2014大洋洲卷》、《2015北欧》七本专著。
本次国际导演大师班的授课对象除了上海戏剧学院及全国其他高校的导表演专业师生外，还将面向全国各个文化厅局所属剧院的导表演工作者，计划招收学员30名，对于曾经获得“国家舞台艺术精品工程”及“文华奖”的导演优先录取，并给予一定的资助。
“2018国际导演大师班（文明古国）”是我国首次系统引进五大文明古国的著名导演艺术家的文化学术活动，上海戏剧学院将配以国内著名的导演艺术家共同协作。届时，大师班还将组织学员观摩大量的戏剧演出和学术交流，全国各地的艺术家将集聚上海，互相交流碰撞出闪耀的艺术火花，为本次“国际导演大师班（美洲）”的举办，增添更为绚丽的色彩和宝贵的资源。

The 2018 International Master Class on Directing (Ancient Civilizations )
Shanghai Theatre Academy

The 2018 International Master Class on Directing will be held on May 14th. to June 19th , 2018. Cosponsored by ITI and Shanghai Theatre Academy, this event is hosted by Directing Department of STA. Five world wide famous directors from Isreal,Turkey India, Egypt and Iran will be invited to give lectures and workshops. The International directors will teach for 5 weeks. During the first five days of the week, the director master will lecture and train the students on class. On the fifth day evening, the students are required to give a presentation in public. The professor and students will sum up and review what they have learned in the whole week by discussing in the last two days of the week.This year, the master class will also hold the "2018 the International Symposium on Contemporary Theatre Directing and Theatre Director Education" after the end of all workshops, and will invite many famous drama directors and director education experts from Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Russia, Iran and the country to discuss the development of contemporary theatre directing arts and the new training methods of theatre directors.

Under the support of the Art Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Culture,the Ministry of Education,the Propaganda Department of the CCP Shanghai Committee ,the Commission of Education in Shanghai and International Theatre Institute,, we have already held 9 Master Classes on Directing from 2009. They are 2009 International Master Class on Directing(U.S.A.),2010 International Master Class on Directing(U.K.),2011 International Master Class on Directing(Russia),2012 International Master Class on Directing(France), 2013 International Master Class on Directing(German),2014 International Master Class on Directing(0ceania),2015 International Master Class on Directing(Northern Europe), 2016International Master Class on Directing(South Europe),2017 International Master Class on Directing(Americas) .Many contemporary theater directors from U.S.A., U.K.,Russia,France,German, Greece,Australia, Sweden and Mexico came to Shanghai, together with the Chinese directors and actors from the famous theaters all over China, discussed the directing techniques and exchanged their opinions on arts so that the new spark and inspiration of arts were generated. After each Master Class, we compiled all the contends of the class to edit and publish the books with CDs, which recorded the master class in details, summed up the essence of the directing techniques and also added a rich Fortune to the theater culture in our country. Till now, we have already published 7 books of the series of International Master Class on Directing, which are 2009 International Master Class on Directing(U.S.A.),2010 International Master Class on Directing(U.K.),2011 International Master Class on Directing(Russia) and 2012 International Master Class on Directing(France), the book 2013 International Master Class on Directing(German),2014 International Master Class on Directing(0ceania),2015 International Master Class on Directing(Northern Europe), 2016International Master Class on Directing(South Europe)now is also being edited intensively .

Besides the faculty and students of the Directing & Performing Departments of STA, directors and actors from other universities or colleges, or the theatres belonging to the Department of Culture all over China are also encouraged to apply. This year we will recruit 30 students. Priority will be given to directors and actors who have won the awards of the “National Stagecraft Competition Project .” There will also be financial support available for them.

It is the first time in China that such a master class is held to introduce famous directing professors from the five ancient civilizations systematically. STA will also invite experienced Chinese directors to assist/collaborate with the international masters. During that time, many theatre Festivals are going to be held in Shanghai. Theatre groups from different countries all over the world will gather in Shanghai, which will add great resources and more splendor to the 2018 International Master Class on Directing( Ancient Civilizations).
