主讲人简介：
Yun-Dong Wu obtained a BS from Lanzhou University in 1982 and a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986. He joined HKUST in 1992. He was promoted to full professor in 2001 and Chair Professor in 2007. Currently, he is Chair Professor of Peking University. His research focuses on theoretical understanding of catalysis, force field development for the simulations of biomolecules, and function of WD40 proteins. He received a National Natural Science Award of China in 1999 and 2013, respectively, a Croucher Award in 2000, a Thomson-Reuters Research Fronts Award in 2008, the 2013 Mullikan Lectureship of University of Georgia, the 2014 Fukui Medal of APATCC, the 2015 Physical Organic Chemistry Achievement Award of Chinese Chemical Society, and a Humboldt Research Award in 2016. He was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Science in 2005, and the president of Asian-Pacific Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists in 2019.
讲座内容简介：
In this lecture, I would like to share with you some of my research experiences both during my graduate study and my independent academic career. These include (1) development of medals to predict the stereochemistry of nucleophilic additions to acyclic and cyclic carbonyl compounds; (2) development of a model to understand the stereochemistry of the Sharpless epoxidation reaction; (3) mechanistic understanding of meta-selective arene functionalization; (4) regio- and stereo-selectivities of CpRu(II)- catalyzed addition reactions to alkynes.
