This course covers theoretical and empirical works in the major areas of corporate finance: capital structure, payout policy, mergers and corporate control, corporate governance, capital acquisition (security issuance) process, and financial intermediation. While the empirical evidence will be examined carefully, the emphasis will be on the theoretical frameworks used to understand the evidence. In terms of theory presentation, I will emphasize ideas more than techniques.
