  ACCOMPLISHMENTS SUMMARY
   Physics
?Dr. Nestell developed the general theory of thin-film metallic optics in the 1970s.
   Primary Welding Engineer
?Dr. Nestell has 30 years experience solving welding problems, including applications for the United States Navy and for the commercial nuclear and fossil power plant industry. He has developed weld procedure and welder qualification strategies for major pipe replacements in BWR’s and for BWR containment modifications. Dr. Nestell has also developed successful programs for bi-metallic welding of fossil power plant boiler tubing, waterwall cladding and repairs of major high temperature components such as superheater headers. Recent welding activities include resolving container lid weld cracking problems for a nuclear dry fuel storage vendor and resolving laser welding problems for Plutonium storage containers.
   Primary Corrosion Engineer
?He has assisted in resolving problems with BWR stainless steel piping intergranular stress corrosion cracking, steam generator corrosion, chemical cleaning, and circulating water and service water system corrosion.
?He has conducted several state-of-the-art evaluations of the effectiveness of hydrogen water chemistry control in boiling water reactors.
?One included an economic evaluation of the capital and operating costs of the modification. He is the lead engineer for nuclear and fossil plant service water system corrosion problems and has developed service water material condition evaluation methodologies, corrosion test programs, and new replacement materials evaluation programs at two plants.
   High Temperature Materials Lead Engineer
?Dr. Nestell’s other activities include leading engineering efforts for resolving fossil-fired boiler materials and gas turbine blade cracking problems. He is currently heavily involved in the development of high temperature design rules for liquid metal and gas reactors operating in the creep regime. He is currently the Chairman of the ASME Working Group on High Temperature Gas Reactors and is a member of the ASME High Temperature Liquid-Cooled Reactor Working Group and the High Temperature Reactor Subgroup.
Extensive Failure Analysis, Evaluation and Disposition of Material Defects Experience
?Dr. Nestell has extensive experience in failure analysis and in the evaluation and disposition of material defects found in service. His knowledge of many aspects of corrosion as well as of most fatigue and fracture mechanics methodologies has allowed him to take the lead in the failure analyses of major components, including main coolant pumps and pressure vessels.
